Kozhinjampara Government Arts and Science College has started a campus greening project collaborating with the Aranyakam Nature Foundation. It began with planting about 150 saplings of native species of trees suitable for the climate and soil of Kozhinjampara on the college campus. Mr K. Manikumar, Chairman, Block Panchayat Standing Committee, inaugurated the function held at the College Auditorium. He
emphasised the importance of environmental organisations in implementing such projects in colleges. In his keynote address, Dr P S Easa, Chairman of the Aranyakam Nature Foundation, pointed out the importance of celebrating Environment Day.
He emphasised that one has to start with environmental protection in their surrounding before looking to remote and forest areas.
He also announced that the organisation would work closely with the project for five years.
Dr Srividya welcomed the gathering, and College Principal in charge, K. Ramesh, presided over the function. Palakkad Social Forestry DFO Sibin, Aranyakam Executive Abhilash Ravindran and Panchayat Member Thankavelu also felicitated the gathering. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the Environment Quiz at the event.
